They have finally finished the Tree House!
Jobko really did a great thing on the club, I can't imagine without her.

That's why she's probably going to come back every other episode if this happens to get a season 2 xD.

go1 • 1 year ago

If this gets a season 2 then im also watching it,leisurely at my own pace, just like this one.
This anime is best enjoyed in small bites honestly. But it still ranked 7.7/10 :)
Which is Anime1 folder for me cause it is cute, wholesome SoL.
7.0 or less is sent to Anime2 folder.

they should have used handkerchief or hammer joke :( it would have been so good

"DO IT YUA SERUFU"
The Tsundere Purin finally opened up to Serufu, though not completely.
I hope Jobko will go back! I can't imagine the club without her anymore.

This Slice of Life is such a fun ride.
I'm hoping there will be sequel.

Seems like Purin/Miku preemptively felt abandoned by Serafu declaring independence when they started middle school, but it turned out to be empty words by ditzy-klutz Serafu. Personally, I don't like excessively doting on people. But the best thing for Purin to do is help Serafu improve her motor & thinking skills via various activities they can bond over {sports, music, etc} instead of Purin being an overcoddling worrywart.

Dreo • 1 year ago

Despite stuff like Bleach, Mob pshycho and chainsawman airing this season this show was definitely my favourite Serufu and the gang where all so cute and every episode was a joy to watch, I just can't put into words how much I love this show.

10/10

I was so happy to see the finished tree house. It really looked nice, like everything the girls had done. But then it turned into Jobko’s goodbye party… and I almost started to cry. At least they ended the episode with the nice part with Serufu and Purin. Finally Purin was honest with Serufu, and it was really nice to watch. The Serufu/Miku board they used for the swing was so good. Man, I was so emotional this whole episode. Because everything must come to an end, like the girls’ nice time with Jobko, so must this anime end, here is a review, which I wrote somewhat heartbroken, because this gem has ended:

When I first saw some post about this anime, I knew I was gonna like it (being a lover of CGDCT and such), but I’d never expect to love it this much. It came and became the anime of the season in my heart. At first, I wasn’t that much fan of the art style, but then I realized that it actually fits the plot perfectly. It gave me kind of a nostalgic feeling – like as if I were a kid and dad was asking me to give me a screwdriver or something. It might also have symbolized the fact that the DIY club is doing stuff that is old fashioned in a way – you could see that from Purin’s and Jobko’s behaviour in the beginning. The animations are actually really well done.

Plotwise, there is not much to talk about. I mean, it’s a CGDCT anime, where the plot now revolves around girls doing things that you would expect them to do in a DIY club (and you also got to learn some interesting stuff while watching the anime) – ending it with finishing the secret hideout. What’s important for me in this kind of anime are the characters, their interactions, and the atmosphere in general, and also how nice, free, and happy it’s making me feel. And this anime is amazing in all of these. The characters are absolutely great.

Anyways, I totally loved this anime, and my heart is aching because there won’t be more episodes. Because honestly, for me this anime was on par with Non Non Biyori, K-on, or Yuru Camp. I can only pray that they will make a 2nd season, but it’s improbable.

So yeah, as for the final verdict (you can’t possibly guess what score I’m gonna give this anime) – 10/10
I can't leave this anime without a review, just because someone didn't like my first long ass review.

Do It Yourself is brought to you by Pine Jam, the studio best known for the controversial Gamers, AKA the romcom you either love or hate due to the constant misunderstandings. They've also released Kageki Shoujo, Just Because, S1 of Tawawa on Mondays, Gleipnir, and the upcoming Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible set to air next season!
I've always been a fan of CGDCT and SOL anime, there's something fun and relaxing about them. Some of my very first anime were CGDCT anime, KyoAni's Lucky Star and K-ON! For positives, this has Yuru Camp levels of feel good therapy where you can't help but smile and feel good! The art style and animation feels unique, though I can see some criticism on it. And the characters are all likable, and I enjoy the voice cast!

I actually loved Nichika Oomori's Engrish as Jobko! You might also know her as Yurine from Jashin-chan no Dropkick! I also love Kokoro, but knowing she's voiced by Karin Takahashi, best known as Suika from Dr. Stone, all I see and hear as Suika saying "Nya!" Imagine Suika saying "nya"....heh. And I ESPECIALLY love Ayane Sakura as Leadercchi AKA Yasaku Rei. She also voices Fiona Frost in SpyXFamily and Sekine from 4-nin this season, and like with Rei, she pulls off a more mature, deeper voice with the other two. Not only is it surprising to see the voice of MHA's Uraraka pull off a voice like Leaderchi and Fiona, it makes me wanna see more of what Sakura can offer. Which is more than I can say for her Girlfriend Girlfriend costar Rie Takahashi voicing Aileen in the villainess isekai or Rie voicing Anzu in Romantic Killer. I love you Rieri, but stick to blowing stuff up please.

The only downsides would be the plot. It's just cute girls doing DIY things but it DOES have commentary. Despite being in an age where tech's become more prevalent in our lives with Tesla buses and Amazon drones, doing things by hand might not be much of a thing but the feeling of making stuff by hand will always remain. There's also the art and animation, which some might criticize, but it feels different from other SOL and CGDCT anime that it gets the OK for me.
Overall, this is easily one of my favorite anime this season, if not the year! This is indeed a must watch, and even if shows like this aren't your thing, I think you should give this a look. DO IT YUA SERUFU!!!
Final Verdict: 8/10

vovan1 • 1 year ago

6/10, was pretty decent CGDCT. i tried really hard to come up whole season with a dirty joke for names of MCs, but failed x(

DI-Yourself did a Good Job-ko.

Qween Qingzanor • 1 year ago

Still disappointing creators did a typical false dichotomy between DIY woodwork & crafts vs electronics, despite DIY electronics existing. Series should've taken a more nuanced approach & even expanded on it.

This Japanese concept of a cutesy voice is quite annoying though, especially from Jobko & Shii.
My concept of a cute voice is a soothing somewhat-high feminine voice, which may be very rare in the wild since I've only heard it once.

Definitely a disdain on Gamers, that series may've accelerated my disdain for prudishness, miscommunication, naivety & other cliches.

Qween Qingzanor • 1 year ago

It seems like CGDCT anime tend to have more open communication than romance anime. Prudish cliches are more abundant in romance anime (even in p0rnhwa & p0rnga), especially dragged-out courtship.
Only problem is that CGDCT tends to be yuri-bait but it's still good to see the interconnections among these girls.

Seosamh Wray • 1 year ago

Gamers probably wasn't entirely their fault. Just from the story being what it is there's only so much that can be done and you don't go blowing budget on UFOTable's level on the slice of life shows, which are often given to whoever can provide decent but cheap animation.

Happy belated birthday to Pudding's VA Kana Ichinose as her birthday was yesterday (December 20th)!

Nearly 5 years ago, y'all basically hate this woman as the voice of Ichigo from Darling in the Franxx back in early 2018!

Ichinose's also the voice of Yuzuriha from Dr. Stone, Tuesday from Carole and Tuesday, Suletta Mercury from this season's Gundam the Witch from Mercury, Sayu from Higehiro, Shion Shishibe from Kyoukai Senki, Olivia from Trapped in a Dating Sim, Maki Shijou from Kaguya-sama, and Marlya Noel from Fairy Gone!

Congrats Yua, Purin, and all you cute girls, you finish the tree house and on the the last of the anime and sad we say good bye to Jobko-chan whom left on a airplane. T_T

Okay it's time for a overview of this anime.
"Do it Yourself!"
Studio: Pine Jam
Genre: CGDCT, Comedy, Slice of Life

As of every seasonal line up of anime we get CGDCT types of anime, with SOL and such, even moe blob ones. (^//^) Which it varies.
Also like other things we also get few to several originals each season as well , like this season it's 4 to 5 of them and half are just meh to bad while the others are best of the lot. Do It Yourself is on the best side of the originals.

This show has:
~ Unique art style to animation (Which several others has similar to this art style.)
Examples are Ousama Raking (Kings Ranking) and Flip Flops.

~The pacing is steady but can be too relaxed.
~The story is simple and straightforward, yet not as obvious.
~A great cast of characters with the right blend to make a good series with no to not many shortcomings.
~The right amount of SOL and comedy.
~A good mellow setting with the OP + ED and the soundtracks.

What's makes good is as some put it in the comment section is it's "Cute Girls Doing Ikea Things,,," Which it is true with club name DIY (Do It Yourself) but it's more to since these girls were doing not only carpentry but also craft projects and this was a breath of fresh air but a anime like this also in terms average and mediocre, although this's on a tops to watch than anything unlike othe average anime that flops and don't compare bad ones to this jewel. But this ain't one of the hype top franchise ether and it's still worth watching so my rating verdict is a 7.5/10

(〜 ̄▽ ̄)〜Yesssssssssssss〜( ̄▽ ̄〜) omg this anime has been so sweet and heartwarming it kinda sad to see it go just like Jobko! i hope she manages to pull her father from depression T^T.

Purin and Serufu split apart as they grew but neither truly let go of each other so seeing them together expressing their feelings was truly beautiful ∩˙▿˙∩ they're so cute together and i hope continue to be that way for a long time

From screw up to screw in, the Serufu story

In the end, it was really a Do It Yourself

Paradise SLU • 1 year ago

Great episode the tree house is beautiful and Serufu with her friends by her side was able to screw much better a real pro.

Junnie Mae • 1 year ago

We'll miss Jobko. But that final project with the swing bench is a chef's kiss! :D I'd sure love a treehouse like that! Great series. It was fun! Gonna miss it.

Monkey D. Luna • 1 year ago

At first I find Jobko annoying coz she's rude... but as the episodes go... ah, she's okay! And her accent is cute.

I bet after they graduate, their not so secret hideout will be a place for couples to sneak in and do the boom boom pow.

I love me some CGDCT SOL shows. This one is just okay. But there are better ones with cuter girls doing more fun things.

6/10

Alright... This is officially one of my favorite anime of all the hundreds I've seen. I think I even like it more than Bocchi the Rock this season. This is easily the comfiest chill anime I've seen in years. 10/10 my only complaint is it wasn't 24 episodes.

Man, this anime for some reason hit me very hard in the feels, as a graduate who cannot live those days of youth anymore with my friends in clubs and do fun activities together. Do It Yourself has some unique and beautiful moments that I wouldn't mind reliving and the fact that they finished the warehouse made me feel so happy - it was for me like when me and my friends finished our last year project together at University, so prideful and precious mainly because we did it by ourselves and together as best friends! Jobko leaving brought me to tears, bcs it reminded me how we all had to leave in our own way and with Covid we grew more and more apart by the day. Being a working adult sucks, especially when you see anime like these and your nostalgically remember those beautiful moments when you were a financially poor student, but full of fun days and friends! I would trade everything I earned from my annoying adult life for at least 1 day to relive it as a happy and carefree student with my classmates unchanged again! :'(

Anyway, I digress... This anime made me super happy and emotional! It is not super great, but it is made with a distinguishable type of purity that you cannot find at anime today. This anime I can feel it was made with Heart and a true passion for building things manually - I even love the motto "Do It Yourself" because it does not refer to doing things alone, but doing things 'manually' without the use of highly computerised and advanced technology, but with the old school manual efforts of you and everyone else - it moved me to tears! Building things is super fun as well and it was educational in that manner! This is an anime that I will miss as well from the bottom of my heart and it is hard to say it, but Sayonara Do It Yourself! You will be missed indeed! :')

Overall Score: 8/10
